Ric Orlando is a chef and activist working in the Hudson Valley of New York. He directs the Capital Region's award winning New World Bistro Bar. He has claimed victories on TWO Food Network Series: Beat Bobby Flay & twice on Chopped. He been people's choice winner Best Chef from both Albany Times Union (2015, 16 & 17) and Hudson Valley Magazine (2014, 15 & 17)
Ric brings an inspired blend of lust for life, outspoken passion for the flavors and ingredients of the world community, and nationally renowned cooking prowess to his roles as chef, lecturer, author, and media source. His tireless work in promoting the products, people, and beauty of the region combined with his quirky sense of humor and rock and roll pedigree has made him one of the Hudson Valley’s leading culinary spokespeople and best foodie draws for events, fundraisers and festivals. October 29th - This morning you'll have time to relax and enjoy the city at your pace before meeting up to head to The Court of Two Sisters, one of Ric's favorite restaurants, for their courtyard Jazz Brunch.
After lunch we'll head to the Presbytére Museum for a tour into the history of Mardi Gras and an exhibit regarding living with hurricanes and Katrina.
Your evening and dinner will be at leisure, but then we'll meet up to head to Preservation Hall for a performance. (B,L)
October 30th - Today join Ric for a stroll through the French Market. You'll have time to browse and shop and enjoy the market.
Then we'll head down to the mighty Mississippi and board a paddle-wheel boat to enjoy a Harbor Jazz Cruise with a buffet lunch. Enjoy the scenery, the music and the food as we paddle our way down the river.
After some free time, we'll meet up this evening to enjoy a group dinner (TBD). (B, L, D)
October 31st - This morning we'll take a ride over to the Garden District. Here we'll enjoy a walking tour through the old cemetery and the beautiful houses that make the district famous.
We'll end the tour at one of New Orlean's most historic restaurants, Commander's Palace. We'll enjoy a three course lunch in our private dining room.
Your afternoon and dinner will be at leisure, and then you'll have the opportunity to join Ric on a trip to Frenchman's Street for their Halloween Parade. (B, L)
November 1st - This morning we check out of the hotel after breakfast and walk down the block for our last event before flying home.
Brennan's restaurant is famous for their Bananas Foster and you'll enjoy a champagne brunch with their speciatly!
Filled with the goodness of New Orleans, you'll be transferred to the airport for your flight home. (B, BR)
